On March 15, 2021, the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus (NCIP) in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) held a video conference on collective management of copyright and related rights. The event brought together national and international experts in the field of intellectual property and copyright management.

Deputy Director General Aliaksandr Zayats, Head of the International Cooperation Division Arthur Akhramenka, Head of the Copyright and Related Rights Department Aliaksandr Dzianisman, Head of the Accounting and Reporting Department Tatsiana Tryfankova and Head of the Copyright and Related Rights Legislation Division Katerina Yantikova represented NCIP at the videoconference.

WIPO was represented by Head of the Section for Caucasian, Central Asian and Eastern European Countries of the Department for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC) Ilya Gribkov, Assistant Program Officer (TDC) Oleksandr Shevchenko, and Program Officer of Copyright Management Division of the Copyright and Creative Industries Sector Miyuki Monroig and Counsellor of the Copyright and Creative Industries Sector Anita Huss.

The discussion was attended by representatives of CISAC – Regional Director for Europe Mitko Chatalbashev, Director of Business Sylvain Piat and Senior Legal Advisor Constance Herreman.
The meeting participants discussed key issues in the field of collective management of musical and audiovisual works in the digital age, including the well-established practice of managing economic rights in the digital environment, as well as ways to optimize the processing of personal data and reporting procedure.

A separate topic of discussion was the WIPO Good Practice Toolkit for Collective Management Organizations.

As a result of the video conference, the parties expressed their readiness to continue fruitful work aimed at strengthening cooperation between organizations, including through the implementation of joint projects.
