In his congratulations Mr. Michal Svantner emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and expressed gratitude to the National Center of Intellectual Property for fruitful work in this direction that has been carried out in Belarus for 50 years already.

“The whole world celebrates April 26 as Intellectual Property Day. It is very important to note that on this day in 1970 Belarus joined WIPO”, – the Director of the Department said.

Let us recall that in 1970 the fundamental document of the World Organization came into force – the Convention establishing WIPO, which formally established the WIPO International Bureau and marked the beginning of a new era of multilateral cooperation among the intergovernmental unions that make up the Organization.

Congratulations on the World Intellectual Property Day from Mr. Michal Svantner, Director of the Department for Transition and Developed Countries of WIPO

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me congratulate you on behalf of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on the World Intellectual Property Day.

The whole world celebrates April 26 as Intellectual Property Day. It is very important to note that on this day in 1970 Belarus joined WIPO.

I can note that cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and WIPO is of great importance and is developing very fruitfully. Last June (2019), the Director General of WIPO, Dr. Francis Gurry, visited your wonderful country and in the framework of that visit very important meetings and negotiations were held. Definitely, one of the most important moments was the meeting with the President of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, during which not only issues of mutual cooperation were touched upon and the most important areas of our cooperation were identified, but also issues of paramount importance in the field of intellectual property for all mankind were discussed.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me, even in today's challenging circumstances, in which we can only allow ourselves to communicate virtually in accordance with the instructions given to us by health officials, to wish everyone a speedy overcoming of difficulties and with great dedication to promote all issues related to intellectual property. I wish you all great successes, good luck and once again congratulations on the World Intellectual Property Day. I’m sure that together we will do everything in our power for the sake of a “green” future, not only for WIPO or the Republic of Belarus, but for all humanity.
