WIPO: new COVID-19 research

In accordance with the report on trends within pandemic, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), during the first months of the world epidemic crisis universities and scientific research institutions submitted almost the same number of applications for anti-COVID-19 vaccines registration as major corporations.

The new COVID-19 Vaccines and Therapies Patent Landscape Report also shows that traditional vaccine technologies and repurposed drugs are the most patented in the field, followed by newer vaccine technologies such as mRNA. This report is part of WIPO's pandemic support package and the first of its kind to identify and analyze patent activities concerning coronavirus infection.
