Belarus has managed not only to preserve its intellectual potential, but also to use it in the interests of the state in various directions. Sergei Shlychkov, Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology, expressed this opinion on the eve of the Belarusian Science Day.

«The world practice and ours show that if the operating production is connected with science, the output and realization of the production have less problems than if this model is not working. Thus, scientific support of operating productions is of great importance,» noted the head of the department.

«Last year 63 innovations were developed in the country and brought to the stage of practical application. Among the most notable developments are experimental models of electric trucks of different capacities. «Two such samples produced by MAZ and Belkommunmash appeared in our country during this year. I can't but emphasize the leading role of the National Academy of Sciences in implementation of the complex project of the future «National electric transport,» said Sergei Shlychkov.

He also says that last year Belarus implemented 127 international scientific and technical projects. These are projects with China, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

According to him, there are also plans for the future. For example, within the framework of projects with China, highly efficient silicon-carbon composites for lithium-ion batteries will be developed (State Research Institute of Physics named after B. I. Stepanov, Russia). The projects will include development of high-performance silicon-carbon composites for lithium-ion batteries (B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Shanghai University); control systems for medical robots (Joint Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Zhejiang University of Science and Technology); software for early diagnosis of lung cancer (Belarusian State Medical University and Suzhou University School of Public Health) and much more.
