Emilia Kolomiets was born on February 10, 1949 in the village of Zapolichi, Svisloch district, Grodno region. In 1966 she graduated from the Porozovskaya secondary school, in 1971 she graduated from the Engineering and Technological Faculty of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute and got a degree of the engineer-technologist of fermentation plants.
She held such positions as Engineer of the Chemical Analysis Section of the Physico-Technical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR; Engineer, Senior Engineer, Junior, Senior, and Leading Researcher, Head of the laboratory of the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Director of the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Director General of the State Research and Production Association “Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnology”.
The most significant results of scientific activity of E. Kolomiets include the creation of a collection of industrially valuable microorganisms essential for the development of bio-pesticides, bio-disinfectants, probiotics, feed additives; establishing the mechanisms of interaction between antagonist bacteria and pathogens of plants and animals; deciphering the nature of the produced antimicrobial metabolites and their synthesis; development of original technologies for creating biological products with phytoprotective, disinfecting, growth and immune-stimulating activity.
Scientific and technical developments carried out under the leadership of E.Kolomiets have been successfully introduced into production and are in demand in the Republic of Belarus and far abroad.
She is the author of over 460 scientific works, including 4 collective monographs, 25 inventions.
She was awarded the Order of Honour, honorary titles “Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus”, “Scientist of the Year of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus", certificates of honour of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as well as the Eurasian Prize “Special Achievements” and the Order of Friendship of Shandong Province (People's Republic of China).
