During May 13 – 16, 2022, the 28th Session of Development and Intellectual Property Committee of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was held in hybrid format.

The event covered the issues related to development agenda projects. One of the most significant outcomes of the work session was completion of a project on enhancing the use of intellectual property (IP) for mobile applications in the software development sector. WIPO developed a dedicated section on IP and Mobile Apps, which provides guidance for developers, tools to ensure the protection of all IP contained in a mobile app, information on the use of open source code, formalization and use of IP rights at every stage in frames of the named technology life cycle, and data protection (available in English).

Additionally, a Startup IP Guide "Commercialization of Ideas" was presented, which will allow startup entrepreneurs to understand the role of the IP system at different stages of startup development. Recommendations on how startups can use the IP system to remain competitive and deepen their understanding of the risks that can arise if it is ignored were presented.
