In the 3rd quarter of 2020, 1,952 applications were filed with the National Center of Intellectual Property for trademark registration, including 739 – under the national procedure, and 1213 – under the international trademark registration procedure.
In January-September 2020, 6433 applications for trademark registration were filed, of which 38.5% are those for registration of trademarks under the national procedure (in January-September 2019 – 35.2%), and 61.5% – under the international procedure (in January-September 2019 – 64.8%). There is an overall decrease in the number of applications submitted, which may be caused by unfavourable epidemiological situation, annual changes in filing activity and other reasons. The number of applications for trademark registration decreased by 17.5% compared to the same period in 2019. At the same time, at the end of September 2020, as compared to the same period last year, an increase in the applicants’ activity was shown by all trademark-related indicators. Positive trends are observed in the growth of applications filed for trademark registration under the national procedure compared to the international one.

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, 720 trademarks were registered in the State Register of Trademarks and Service Marks, which is 14.3% higher than in the same period of 2019 (630 registrations).
he total number of trademarks registered in the 3rd quarter of 2020 includes 401 registrations for national applicants, which amounted to 110.8% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2019, and 320 registrations for foreign applicants, which amounted to 119.4 % compared to the same period of 2019.
