At the 36th meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization on September 10-11, 2020, it was decided to award the representatives of the EAPO member states with V. Blinnikov Gold Medal "For Promoting Invention and Patent Practice".

Thus, representing the Republic of Belarus, Ms. Galina Bazhina, PhD in Chemistry, Head of the Chemistry Division of Industrial Property Examination Department of the National Center of Intellectual Property, is to be awarded the Blinnikov Gold Medal for excellent professional achievements, significant personal contribution to the development and enhancement of intellectual potential of Belarus.


Since 1997 Ms. Bazhina held various positions at the State Patent Committee of the Republic of Belarus, which since 2002 has been renamed into the state institution "National Center of Intellectual Property" (hereinafter – the Center). Since 2019 up to now, she has been working at the Center as Head of the Chemistry Division of Industrial Property Examination Department.

She actively participated in drafting a number of normative legal acts related to the legal protection of inventions, including the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated December 18, 2017 No. 88 "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Patents for Inventions, Utility Models, Industrial Designs", Regulation of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated February 2, 2011 No. 119 "On Approval of the Provision on the Procedure for Drawing up Invention Patent Applications, Conducting Examination and Making a Decision based on its Results".

In addition, Ms. Bazhina participates in the development of measures for the implementation of state policy related to protection of inventions. For a long time, she has been managing the activities of divisions that conduct patent examination of applications for the grant of invention patents.

Blinnikov "For Promoting Invention and Patent Practice" is an award of the Eurasian Patent Organization established in honor of the first President of the Eurasian Patent Office Viktor Blinnikov, a prominent figure in the intellectual property field in the Eurasian region, the founder of the EAPO. The medal is awarded to inventors, specialists and organizations in the intellectual property field that have made a significant contribution to the development of inventive activity and legal protection of inventions in the Eurasian region, creation, formation and development of the EAPO.
