On August 5 – 6, 2020, the twenty-fifth meeting of the Budget Working Group (BWG) of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization was held via a videoconference.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of patent offices of the states parties to the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC): the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.

When opening the meeting, the President of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) Ms. Saule Tlevlessova confirmed stable financial situation in the organization, noting growth of its income in 2019, and drew attention to the increase in the amount of fees transferred to the EAPC member states in the reporting period.

She also thanked the EAPC member states for fruitful cooperation in the reporting year, and efforts aimed at creation of the Eurasian industrial design legal protection system.

The meeting participants discussed the EAPO Annual Report for 2019 and the draft budget of the organization for 2021. Following the discussion, BWG members approved the annual report and recommended the draft budget for 2021 for adoption by the EAPO Administrative Council.

During the event, the draft of a new edition of the Financial Instruction to the EAPC was also considered taking into account comments and proposals from the EAPC member states. The presented draft Instruction provided for updating certain regulations on the EAPO budget and reporting, clarifying budgeting and accounting requirements, and introducing editorial changes.
