On July 20, 2021, a Seminar on the Development of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) and Topical Issues of Intellectual Property (IP) Rights Protection was organized in Brest by the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) and Brest State Technical University (BSTU).

Welcoming addresses to the representatives of organizations and enterprises of the Brest region, including BSTU teachers, graduates and students, were delivered by the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Alexander Shumilin, Deputy Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Gorodetsky, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property Uladzimir Rabavolau , Director of the National Institute of Intellectual Property (Republic of Kazakhstan) Yerbol Ospanov, Rector of BSTU Alexander Bahanovich.



Within the framework of the seminar, the NCIP Director General and the Rector of BSTU signed the Agreement on the TISC Point Creation, fourteenth in Belarus, which will operate in BSTU.


The seminar program covered various topics in the IP sphere, which were discussed by such experts as: Head of the Industrial Property Examination Department (NCIP) Alena Usachova, Head of the Division of Registration and Promotion of Industrial Property Commercialization (NCIP) Dzmitry Andryieuski, Deputy Head of the Legal and Human Resources Department (NCIP) Natallia Novikova. The speakers addressed the topics of innovation support and the TISC network development in the Republic of Belarus, amendments to the legislation, evaluation of feasibility and the suitable form of legal protection of intellectual activity results, introduction of IP objects to the civil turnover.

The NCIP delegation also visited the laboratory of the identification system and industrial robotics of BSTU, where they got acquainted with the advanced scientific developments and achievements of the university.


It should be noted that at the moment there are 13 TISC points in Belarus: one each in the Republican Library on Science and Technology, its regional branches, in Belarusian State University, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Vitebsk State Medical University, Polesie State University, Polotsk State University, Industrial Park “Great Stone”and NCIP.
