The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) webinar “Making Amendments to PCT Applications” was attended by the representatives of the Preliminary Examination Division of the Industrial Property Examination Department of the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus.

In the course of this event Ms. Olga Krysanova, Program Officer, PCT International Cooperation Division, Patents and Technology Sector, WIPO highlighted in details how amendments can be made to the application filed within PCT system both initiated by the applicant himself or the International searching authority. What has been additionally explained were ways amendments could be introduced into the international application at its various stages, possible time period amendments could be made or necessary documentation for that.

Furthermore, opportunities of making amendments into the application in accordance with the Articles 19 and 34 of the Patent Co-operation Treaty were discussed. Besides the aforementioned issues essential and non-essential amendments, which govern the date of international application, have been considered. Examples of errors done by applicants, which may be considered either evident or not, were drawn.

At the wrap-up of the event all theme-related questions have been answered.
