On July 16, 2020 a meeting between the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology (SCST) of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Alexander Shumilin and the members of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mr. Sergei Glazyev and Mr. Timur Zhaksylykov was held. The meeting was attended by the Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property Mr. Uladzimir Rabavolau.

One of the main subjects of discussion was the cooperation of SCST with EEC in the intellectual property sphere, including the issues of exhaustion of the exclusive right to trademarks and holding of the annual International Anti-Counterfeiting Forum in 2020. Belarus takes an active part in the implementation of the main objectives of EAEU. Currently, certain conditions for development and functioning of the single market for goods, services, capital and labour have been established. It should be noted that on February 3, 2020 Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia signed the Agreement on the EAEU Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin. The document provides for the simplified and accelerated procedure for obtaining legal protection for trademarks valid jointly in the territory of all EAEU member states, as well as reduced costs incurred by the applicant.

The Eurasian Economic Union is an international organisation of regional economic integration, possessing international legal personality. The EAEU Member States are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The Eurasian Economic Commission is a permanent supranational governing body of EAEU formed by the Council of the Commission and the Board of the Commission. The main tasks of the Commission are to ensure proper conditions for functioning and advancement of the Union, as well as development of proposals concerning economic integration within EAEU.
