Counterfeit goods were found by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Borisov police department in Orsha. Illegal business was organized by three residents of the Vitebsk region, who passed off Russian butter for Belarusian.

The men brought counterfeit low-grade butter from Russia that did not meet the GOST requirements. With the help of handicraft equipment, the product was packaged under the brands of well-known Belarusian manufacturers and sold throughout the country through advertisements (on the Internet, on street lampposts and information boards).

In the warehouse, the field agents found over 5.7 tons of counterfeit butter in boxes with labels and trademarks of Belarusian manufacturers. They also seized packaging material, labels with dairy plant logos, computers and accounting documents. The total damage to Belarusian dairy producers amounted to over 90 thousand roubles.

The investigators gave a legal assessment of the actions of the detainees and filed a criminal case under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
