Intellectual Property Development Strategy until 2030 adopted in Belarus

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, by means of its Resolution No. 672 of November 24, 2021, approved the Strategy of the Republic of Belarus in the intellectual property sphere until 2030. The document defines the major vectors of the national intellectual property system improving, contains the relevant state policy goals and objectives.

The strategy implementation will lead to increase in the intellectual property management system efficiency and transformation of the country’s research and creativity potential into one of the key components of the national economy growth.

It should be noted that some issues of the national intellectual property system development are also contained by the State Innovative Development Program of the Republic of Belarus for 2021-2025, having a separate chapter concerning the named topic. Thereupon, the tasks stipulated by the program will be as well solved in the framework of the Strategy.

In order to implement the Strategy, a roadmap indicating the responsible executors and events for the first three years (2021-2023) has been prepared. The coordination of activities concerning the Strategy implementation is entrusted to the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the executors are defined among various entities.

Today Belarus has a modern intellectual property system fully meeting the international standards including legal, organizational structures and institutions, protection mechanisms integrated into all the sectors and spheres. Thus, the Strategy implementation is to bring the national intellectual property system to a new higher level.
