During October 4 - 8, 2021 in Geneva, Swiss Confederation, the 62nd series of meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is taking place. Taking into account the current restrictions on face-to-face attendance caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Assemblies are being held in a hybrid format.

The delegation of the Republic of Belarus is represented by the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology (SCST) - Head of the Belarusian Delegation - Alexander Shumilin, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) Uladzimir Rabavolau, Head of the International Scientific, Technical and Innovation Policy Department of the SCST Sergei Shuba, Head of Department of International Cooperation of the NCIP Arthur Akhramenka, as well as representatives of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

In his speech under agenda item 5 "General statements" Alexander Shumilin noted the positive dynamics and significant achievements of our country in the field of intellectual property and innovation and confirmed the readiness of the Republic of Belarus to act as a platform for the WIPO pilot projects aimed at stimulating innovative and inventive activity both nationally and internationally.

Within the Assemblies framework, it is planned to consider the report of the WIPO Director General, as well as to discuss the issues concerning the program, budget and oversight. Special focus will be on agenda items related to the WIPO committees’ activities and improvement of the international regulatory framework and global IP-related services.
