On June 23, 2021, the National Seminar “Belarus and the Hague System in Protecting Your Designs Internationally” took place online. The event was organized by the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

As part of the seminar, the experts discussed the advantages that the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs brings in the international context. Participants were provided with practical information on the preparation of an international application and ways to get the quick access to the latest information and updates of the Hague System.

Deputy Director General Aliaksandr Zayats, Head of the Industrial Property Examination Department Alena Usachova, Deputy Head of the Industrial Property Examination Department Maryna Patselina and Head of the International Cooperation Division Arthur Akhramenka participated in the event on behalf of NCIP.

WIPO was represented by the Director of the Hague Registry Grégoire Bisson, as well as experts Jess Honculada and Max Germeil.

In his opening remarks, Aliaksandr Zayats noted that the issue of joining the Hague System was debated in the Republic of Belarus for several years in terms of the national intellectual property system development and enhancing the investment attractiveness of our country. As a result of comprehensive work on improving the legislation in this field, on July 19, 2021, our country will become a full-fledged 75th state party to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

The video recording of the event is available on the official YouTube channel of NCIP.
