World Book and Copyright Day

Each year on 23 April, the world celebrates World Book and Copyright Day to highlight the importance of reading, cultural exchange and intellectual property protection.

Proclaimed on November 15, 1995 at the 28th session of UNESCO, the celebration symbolizes the integral link between the creative work of authors and the protection of their copyrights.

This day is aimed at drawing attention to the importance of copyright and the protection of the publishing industry in order to help stimulate the creativity of authors and ensure fair remuneration for their work. The importance of copyright protection is linked to ensuring the availability of books and other works, and maintaining a balance between stimulating creativity and disseminating knowledge.

The World Book and Copyright Day aims to support authors, publishers and all those who make literary works possible.
