On May 30, 2022, a press-conference on the topic «Formation of legal literacy in the field of intellectual property among the younger generation» was held in the BelTA press center.

The conference was attended by Deputy Director General of the National Centre of Intellectual Property (NCIP) Aliaksandr Zayats, leading specialist of the industrial property law and treaties division of the legal and human resources department of NCIP Maria Shmatava, specialist of the industrial property law and treaties division of the legal and human resources department of NCIP Olga Nikiforova, director of the state institution «Centralized system of children's libraries in Minsk» Tatiana Shved.

«NCIP is the patent office of Belarus, the main function of which is to register intellectual property. In addition, we are engaged in educational and scientific activities. We understand that one of our key tasks is to popularize knowledges in the field of intellectual property. Our work is mostly focused on professional circles but we also work with the young generation,» said Aliaksandr Zayats. – «Kids write poems, compose music, make computer applications. Many children are professional performers. It's important to uncover the talent in every child and tell children how to capitalize on it».

The center holds a contest of works among students and school children, it is active in the media space and expands children's knowledge through collaboration with specialized organizations. «Today we provide the institution «Centralized system of children's libraries in Minsk» with specialized publications on intellectual property, which are designed for children. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which operates under the auspices of the UN, has developed brochures on various intellectual property issues: copyright, patents, trademarks. These publications explain in a child-friendly way what intellectual property is and how to use it in order to become richer both in material and spiritual terms. WIPO also produced another anime-style publication aimed at older children. The Center is donating a set of these publications to each library of the system so that children will have an opportunity to get acquainted with them», stated NCIP’s Deputy Director General Aliaksandr Zayats and expressed the hope that the presented publications will occupy a special place in the literary fund.
