On April 19, 2022, the National Centre of Intellectual Property (NCIP) received its first application for the Eurasian industrial design. The applied industrial design of JSC AMKODOR is an externally designed excavator, which, in turn, will be actively used in construction, land reclamation, public utilities and other important social areas.

The event was attended by Director General Uladzimir Rabavolau, director of the Scientific and Technical Center (STC) - General Designer of "Amkodor" Aliaksandr Malinouski, Deputy Director of STC - Chief Designer of construction machinery "Amkodor" Valery Golubeu and Head of Design Bureau of excavators and backhoe loaders "Amkodor" Aliaksandr Kabanau.

On December 31, 2021 the President of the Republic of Belarus signed the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Protocol on the protection of industrial designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention of September 9, 1994.

On January 19, 2022 the Republic of Belarus deposited with the World Intellectual Property Organization the Act of Accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention of September 9, 1994.

The Protocol entered into force for the Republic of Belarus on April 19, 2022.

Accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Protocol shall simplify the procedures of obtaining and maintaining design patents in the territory of the Protocol member-states (one-stop shop principle) as well as reduce the costs of the Belarusian applicants. The Protocol provides for the grant (maintenance in force) of a single Eurasian design patent that will be valid in the territory of all the States Parties to the Protocol. To obtain a patent for an industrial design in any State Party to the Protocol, the applicant shall submit one application (in Russian) to the national patent office and pay the patent fees in one currency (in Russian roubles).

In addition to the Republic of Belarus, the States Parties to the Protocol are the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tajikistan.
