On November 30, 2023 the 14th meeting of the Permanent Working Group on Information Technologies of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (PWGI, EAPO) was held. The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Center of Intellectual Property.

One of the important outcomes of the meeting was the decision to launch the full electronic exchange of general office documents.

The project is based on the Procedure for Electronic Exchange of General Office Documents between the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and the national patent offices of the EAPO member states, approved by the EAPO Administrative Council in May 2023.

The EAPO and national patent offices have been successfully exchanging documents on Eurasian applications and patents electronically for several years using the EAPO-Online system. Now a new channel of electronic exchange for general office documents (not directly related to the patent procedure) is being introduced.

By the decision of the EAPO Administrative Council the pilot phase of the project was realized in the national patent office of Tajikistan. The representative of the Office confirmed the successful realization of the pilot phase of the project, in this connection the participants of the meeting decided to transfer the project to the industrial mode and to provide the possibility to work in the created EAPO system for all national offices of the region.

Also during the meeting the EAPO presented to the participants the information on the progress in the creation of the EAPO Integrated Information System and the results of the recently completed research work on the formation of a common Eurasian expert-information space in the field of industrial property.

In addition, the meeting considered the issues of improving the activities of the PWGI and updating the information in the EAPO Pharmaceutical Registry.
