On August 12, 2022, an expert meeting with representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union was held via videoconference.
Representatives of the intellectual property offices of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Federal Service for Intellectual Property of the Russian Federation took part in the consultations. The Belarusian side was represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the National Center of Intellectual Property.
Negotiations were held to update certain provisions of the draft Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In particular, they discussed application of the provisions governing the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Copyright Treaty and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty, as well as the use of trademarks.
The fifth round of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU, its member states and the Arab Republic of Egypt is expected to take place in September this year.
