A 9-year-old girl from Minsk became the youngest patent holder in Belarus

On March 27, 2024, Director General of the National Center for Intellectual Property Uladzimir Ryabovalau awarded a design patent to Darya Khatskievich in a ceremony. The nine-year-old Minsk girl, who designed a book holder, became the youngest patent holder in Belarus.

Darya is a 3rd grade student of A.F. Danukalova Secondary School No. 159 in Minsk. She is a very diverse child: she is engaged in rhythmic gymnastics, rock climbing and swimming, she studies in the IT class, where she learns robotics and programming.

In the second grade the girl decided to participate in the school competition of project and research works «Young Explorer» with her project «Knigochit», which was awarded a diploma of the 1st degree. At the district competition of project and research works of elementary school students «Cognition and Creativity» Darya was awarded a diploma of 3rd degree, and at the city festival - a diploma for the originality of the proposed solution.

Darya did not stop at what she had already achieved and in January 2024 took part in the city scientific-practical conference of schoolchildren «First Steps to Science», which was held in Sochi, Russian Federation. According to the results of the competition, Darya became the winner in the section «Physics, Mathematics, Technology».

On December 21, 2023, an application was filed with the above invention, and on March 20, 2024, the design patent No. 5201 was registered.

The development is a handy book holder that is worn around the neck and allows the wearer to read a book without using their hands. Daria actively uses her industrial sample herself, and together with her parents she designed a similar, but slightly larger one for her grandfather.

The National Center of Intellectual Property congratulates the young innovator and wishes further success in her inventive activity.
